VISHWA KANNADA SAMSKRUTHI
SAMMELANA
On
30th Nov & 1st Dec. 2007 at Dr.
Kamel Al-Rayees Auditorium of American International School,
Kuwait
It is indeed a very proud moment for Kuwait Kannada Koota
(KKK) to host a very prestigious event……World Kannada Cultural
Convention. This event is hosted in association with Hridayavahini
from Karnataka.
Just
to have the nostalgic memories of the humble beginning of
KKK, It started as a small group of Kannadigas congregating
at Dr.Taraknath’s residence to celebrate Karnataka based festivals
and also other social activities. Our children and all of
us would enjoy at these gatherings. It was during one of these
social gatherings, nurtured the idea of forming a Kannada
Koota and thus KKK came into existence in 1984.
From
then on, KKK has been celebrating Purandara Daasara Aaradhane
in the month of February, an out door picnic in March, Indoor
games in April/May. Break for the summer vacation. And come
September, after the summer vacation, hectic activity starts
in preparing ourselves and our children to celebrate Kannada
Rajyotsava in first week of November. We must thank the ladies
of the Koota for preparing our children and directing variety
entertainment program for Rajyotsava celebrations which is
the MEGA Event of KKK. After the mega event, we have an Indoor
Picnic to show case our children talents in singing/dancing/playing
instruments/Essay writing/Drawing and Elocution Competitions.
This is followed by AGM by end of December, where a new Committee
would be elected.
One
great character that stood out for KKK was our ability to
use the resources within the Koota, give opportunities to
all the Koota children to come on the stage and shed their
inhibitions and fear. This is very well appreciated by all
the communities in Kuwait. Seeing the quality family variety
entertainment rendered by KKK, we won the hearts of many SPONSORS/DONORS
who are willing to share the expenses incurred. Now KKK has
become big, with over 225 families vying with each other to
contribute to the growth and success of the Koota.
When
2006 was the Suvarna Mahotsava of Karnataka, KKK was not behind
in showing its LOVE to our motherland. We invited eminent
Poet Sri.Nissar Ahmed to be the Chief Guest and gave a program
with the Koota members illustrating the rich culture of Karnataka
state with old/modern poets of Karnataka.
In continuation of Suvarna Mahotsava, we have banked on a
very ambitious program this year in conducting Vishwa Kannada
Sammelana inviting many famous personalities. We are honored
in having our Rashtra Kavi Dr.G.S.Shivarudrappa to preside
over the Sammelana. Eminent personalities like Sri.C.R.Simha,
a well know Kannada actor, Smt.Sandhya
Pai, Editor of Kannada
Magazine Taranga and Miss. Manasi
Prasad, Carnatic singer and Classical dancer par excellence
will be performing on these two days. There are various troupes
coming from Karnataka. To list a few of them…Kinkini (Bangalore),
Natyanjali Bharatanatya Shale (Sirsi), Doddata Tanda (Bellary),
Manjushri Balaga (Sirsi), Jaya Natyakala Academy (Kolar).
Besides these performances our own KKK members will be also
giving a variety entertainment program. The convention will
be holding discussion Forum on topics like Poetry/Health/Media/Industry
and Humor. In a nutshell it will be cultural and as well as
academic extravaganza for these two days.
All Kannadigas, particularly in Kuwait... Don’t miss this
Golden opportunity to see men and women of repute from your
motherland perform on one platform. Art and culture is like
a fountain that springs from one’s heart. Some may choose
to express the finer thoughts and emotions through music,
some others through dance, still others through literature.
There are others who effervesce their cultural level by admirable
manners, their kind deeds and discipline in life. Culture
or Samskriti is the very soul of our lives. Like the young
plants thrive with periodical watering and tender care, celebrations
such as the Rajyotsava provide the necessary fillip and encouragement
to nourish and grow the artistic talents in man. It not only
improves the quality of one’s own life but make the world
a better place with more cultured people to live with. Let
all of us resolve on this day to do our best to make this
world a better living place where art and literature flourish,
love and kindness guides our actions.
KKK
takes this opportunity to wish all our SPONSORS/ DONORS/ WELL-WISHERS
for their continued support to the Koota. It is because of
your generosity KKK has grown this big and is being labeled
as the “Elder Sister of all Karnataka based association in
Kuwait.” KKK from the humble sapling laid by Dr.Taraknath
has become a Strong Tree and is growing from strength to strength.

friends, we have embarked on this very Big Project, I humbly
appeal to all of you to join hands and contribute for the
success of this event. “Tiny drops of water make a mighty
ocean”. Contribution in any form is most welcome.
